baking soda blackheads

It is not a pleasant feeling to discover a black head on any part of your face.   If you find them you will probably spend many minutes in front of the mirror “wishing it away.”

Blackheads have been proven not to be harmful in any way; however, you wouldn’t want blackheads on your smooth, glowing facial skin.

What causes blackheads?

Blackheads are formed when the facial skin pores become clogged with excess oil, dead skin, dirt or even cosmetics. They first appear as tiny pimples which later become oxidized to form a small black mound on the skin known as a blackhead.

Who can experience Blackheads on their skin?

We are all prone to experiencing blackheads (male and female) if we do not adopt adequate measures daily to keep our oily facial skin clean. Have you seen a blackhead on your facial skin before? What did you do about it?

Blackheads are such a common occurrence that there are many remedies for it, but I’m going to show you a simple DIY remedy that will eliminate blackheads from your skin.

By following the right procedure when applying baking soda on your skin (yes baking soda!), you can effectively get rid of blackheads leaving behind clear and glowing skin that will radiate your beauty and actual tone.   Check out the video below............

Does baking soda get rid of blackheads?

In chemistry, baking soda is known as Sodium bicarbonate. It has excellent exfoliating properties that are good for your skin. The after effects are smooth and beautiful skin.

How does baking soda eliminate Blackheads?

From my personal experience, I know that blackheads can reoccur after the first set has dried up and the skin has healed. It is an annoying and frustrating experience for many people.

Now you don’t have to live in fear of waking up to see a blackhead developing on your skin anymore. Baking soda can be effectively used as a long-term remedy to eliminate blackheads.

The following properties are attributed to the effectiveness of baking powder in clearing and preventing blackheads from your skin.

  • •    Baking powder has properties that open up the skin pores, removing dead skin that will clog the pores.
  • •    It also regulates the pH level of your skin to reduce the production of oil which can cause the clogging of your skin pores.
  • •    Baking Soda will make your skin feel smooth and soft.

b. Gently wash your face with warm water.

c. Apply the paste over your facial skin; concentrate on the areas of your skin that have blackheads.

d. Allow the paste to set in for about three minutes.

e. Proceed to massage the paste on your face in a gentle circular motion for about three minutes. This action will dislodge blackheads, and remove dead skin and dirt on your facial skin.

You should repeat this process at least twice a week to get the best results.

Baking soda has been commonly used by many people as a simple remedy to eliminate blackheads effectively. However, you should consider the following precautions before using this remedy -

Baking Soda could stimulate an increase in the pH level of your skin.

When used excessively, Baking Soda could cause your skin to feel very dry.

There have been some reports of skin irritation when Baking Soda was applied to the facial skin.

Finally, we all have different skin types, so it’s recommended that you should get a skin patch test done to ascertain that you will not experience any irritation on your skin after applying baking Soda.

Using Apple Cider Vinegar with Baking Soda to Remove Blackheads

A quick remedy to restore the pH levels of your skin back to normal is by applying some apple cider vinegar on your skin.  Mix equal parts of apple cider vinegar and water, apply the resulting mixture on your skin with cotton balls.

The mixture of apple cider vinegar and water will balance your facial skin’s pH levels. People that have reservations about using apple cider vinegar can use a mild skin moisturizer instead to set the skin’s pH right.

Here are a few final Tips on Using Baking soda on your face

  • Avoid applying the paste you have made with Baking Soda on open wounds or open pimples. This will prevent irritation.
  • Leaving the paste on your skin for too long could lead to irritation, three minutes should be sufficient for this therapy.
  • The process should be immediately stopped if you observe any skin irritation, quickly rinse the paste off your face.
  • You might need to repeat the process more than once to start getting the desired effects I have described earlier.
  • Consult a dermatologist if you have had an allergic reaction after applying the paste on your face.

It is essential that the pores on your facial skin are open before you apply the paste made with Baking soda. You can achieve this by splashing warm water on your face as mentioned above or steaming your face for a few minutes by keeping it in place over a bowl of hot water.

To retain the steam and to ensure you face is directly hit by the steam; place a towel over your head.

Blackheads are not an indication of any serious illness; they usually drop off your face after drying up. But they might reappear; this is why you should consider using a simple remedy such as the Baking soda therapy to prevent the appearance of blackheads on your skin.
